Outdoor Dog Hammock

Question: What do Bankhead, 2x4's, seat belts and roofing nails all have in common?...
...This fabulous outdoor dog hammock.  DBJ.

It all started back when Jeff decided to make Barley his own special seat on our two-person kayak.  We take Barley kayaking with us frequently and the hard plastic surface doesn't do him any favors when it comes to his claws and finding traction. Needless to say, he has had a couple swimming fiascos in the river and has become a pro at doggy-paddling through rapids. :-)

Barley's Kayak Seat v1.0 was made completely of PVC pipes, pipe insulation and cheap, thin carpet.  I wish I had a better picture of it in action, but here's all I got:
Only real men wear pink.

After a few runs down the river, the the carpet lost its tautness from water weight and became pretty useless as a kayak seat.  Jeff threw it in the backyard with plans to modify it later, but pretty soon it became Barley's favorite patio lounge chair and stayed there indefinitely...

Then Jeff decided it was time to upgrade the lounge chair and made a trip to the local car salvage yard in Bankhead (Young Dro would be so proud).  With his razor blade in hand, he climbed through junk cars and salvaged ~100 ft. of seat belt straps, paying $15 in the end. I'm going to go ahead and say this was probably a first for all parties involved in this transaction.

Just a normal day in the life of Jeff.

Materials:
Seat belt straps
Roofing Nails
2x4 Wood Planks
Primer Paint
Colored Paint

I think it's also safe to say this was a first for both of us when it comes to basket-weaving seat belt straps.  And if you didn't notice, Jeff also had the foresight to make sure Barley's hammock color-coordinated with our up-cycled patio furniture. :-)

Ok one more pic...
Kila is totes jelly.
